The Farmer’s Wife Harvest Cafe entrance is squeezed in between the Commonwealth Bank and Pash clothing store in the main street of Port Fairy. It is a narrow laneway that leads you down to a cafe Gem that you won’t want to miss. Seriously if you blink you might walk past so keep an eye out for the sign on the old bike in the street.
At the end of the laneway is the Farmer’s Wife. Not a big cafe so you do have to chance a seat if it is a poor day although in fine weather there is plenty of seating outside. On a fine day try the pebbled area at the front on a bench seat and enjoy the fresh air. Staff are friendly but not intrusive and there really is a feeling of being near the beach.
Although there is not a huge selection of desserts on offer the croissants are fresh and delicious with always a muffin, slice or biscuit to choose from. Great barista work as the coffee making offers one of the best cappuccinos I have tasted in Port Fairy.
If you are after savoury try a fresh salad or gourmet roll. If you want something on the go then this is a good place to grab a coffee and roll while you take in the delights of Sackville Street.
