Located in Sackville Street (the main street of Port Fairy) is Rebecca’s Cafe a very popular stop for both visitors and locals. The cafe offers a large selection of cakes and sweets and is very well known for it’s yo-yo’s which can be purchased with your coffee or by the bucket to take with you.
As you walk in the first thing you notice is the cake display in front of you with a large selection of delights to choose from. There were a selection of savouries but it was hard to notice with so much cake available.
One of the few places open every day and they don’t close until 6 pm which makes time for a cappuccino after work or your drive around the town if you are not a local. On my last visit someone who had just driven from Victor Harbor was very pleased that there was still somewhere to relax on arrival.
If you are into coffee then the good news is it was very good. Staff were friendly with no pressure to order and the cake arrived promptly with the coffee. There is plenty of room inside but you can dine alfresco on the pavement and take in the street views of Port Fairy. Don’t forget to take home a yo-yo.
