Daylesford & Hepburn Springs have a reputation for being expensive. Not actually true as the full spectrum of pricing applies to the region. If you want to spend a lot the towns will accommodate but if you only want to spend a little the town can accommodate you as well.
One of the most popular free outings is the Daylesford Market. Hundreds upon hundreds of people visit this market every week. You can spend a good hour or more perusing the many stalls on offer ranging from handmade soaps, to cakes to clothing. Plenty of arty stuff, second-hand goods, and rare tools. Parking is FREE.
After the Market take a drive to the Daylesford Lake. A walk around this beautiful lake takes around 45 minutes and the views are stunning. Plenty of birdlife to admire and you may see people fishing on the water’s edge. Please don’t swim in the lake as the waters are deep, cold and dangerous.
Prefer a less busy lake then drive to Lake Jubilee. Not quite as large as the previous lake but just as stunning. The path can be a bit slippery so where sensible shoes. It only takes around 30 minutes at a leisurely pace. It is located within the camping park.
Finally do try the mineral waters. Not for everyone but you must try them at least once. The mineral pumps are at both lakes, the Hepburn Reserve and several other more secluded locations. Best of all they are free and reputed to have health giving properties.
